Argentina’s Lower House praises Vietnam’s Revolution

Buenos Aires, August 27 (VNA) –Argentina’s Chamber of Deputies (Lower House) on August 26 highly valued the significance of the Vietnamese Revolution in the history of safeguarding and building the country on the occasion of the 70th National Day (September 2).

The chamber’s statement reviewed Vietnam’s important historical milestones since French colonialists began invading Vietnam in 1858, including the establishment of the Indochinese Communist Party in 1930 and the Viet Minh Front in 1941 and the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945).

On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and this day has become the country’s National Day since then.

The Lower House also spoke highly of the Dien Bien Phu triumph in 1954 and the Great 1975 Spring Victory, which completely liberated the south and reunified the nation.

The statement concluded with a praise of the Vietnamese people’s struggle for national independence and their efforts to develop the country over the past seven decades, affirming that they deserve to live in peace.

The statement was put forward by members of parliament Ricardo Cuccovillo and Miriam Gallardo, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies’ Friendship Parliamentarian Group with Vietnam.
