Vietnamese Vegetarian Cuisine

Buddhism has a long history of development in Vietnam so vegetarian food is an indispensable part of its culinary culture. With their creativeness, Vietnamese chefs have made diverse vegetarian foods which are full of Vietnamese tastes.
Originating from a Buddhist concept, a vegetarian diet has been proven by several scientific studies to be healthy and helpful in curing particular diseases. Therefore, vegetarianism for health is becoming an increasingly suggested and followed trend.

Ingredients to make vegetarian foods are mainly vegetables, roots, fruit, soy products and mushrooms. The art of cooking vegetarian meals requires the foods to be delicious, healthy and also eye catching. Besides simply sautéing or boiling vegetarian food, vegetarian chefs create dishes that mimic the taste and appearance of meat such as sautéed chicken innards, fried prawns, spring rolls, scrambled eggs and braised pork.

At the end of a vegetarian meal, people can enjoy desserts like fruit, sweet soup or tea served with fruit conserves.
