Vietnamese, Kazakh leaders pleased with growing ties

Burabai, May 29 (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed their delight at the growing ties between the two countries in recent years.

During their meeting on the occasion of the signing ceremony of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU) on May 29, the two leaders agreed that the sound political and diplomatic relationship between the two countries has contributed to promoting cooperation in a number of fields, such as the economy, trade and investment.

They also said the FTA is a breakthrough in terms of boosting the economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the EAEU’s five member states Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The Vietnamese PM believes the implementation of the FTA will increase the bilateral trade between the two countries and lay the foundations for expanding cooperation on areas of strength for Vietnam and Kazakhstan or on areas for which there is a high demand.

The two leaders agreed to study each other’s respective markets in order to maintain and strengthen cooperation in key sectors, especially oil and gas exploration and exploitation.

The two sides pledged support for Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation and the Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Corporation to jointly explore and exploit oil and gas in each other’s countries.

With regard to the East Sea issue, President Narzabayev expressed his support for solving disputes peacefully and maintaining peace, stability, security and safety of navigation and aviation in the region.

PM Dung expressed his admiration for the social-economic achievements brought about by the Kazakh people and President Narzabayev, who won the Kazakh people’s hearts with his effective leadership.
