She said Vietnam gives first priority to maintaining macroeconomic stability, accelerating the implementation of strategic breakthroughs, economic restructuring and growth model renewing, ensuring social welfare, and coping with climate change.

She spoke highly of the WB’s drafting the Vietnam-WB country partnership framework (CPF) for 2017-2022, hoping it will be a strategic document to implement set policies and development goals. She asked the WB to closely work with government agencies to reach agreement on detailed contents and complete the important document soon.

The Vietnamese National Assembly continues to promote its role of supervising the implementation, management and use of the WB’s assistance, thus ensuring the effective use of the capital sources, Ngan affirmed.

Georgieva, for her part, said the WB is willing to support Vietnam to obtain achievements in implementing its policies, socio-economic development plan for 2016-2020.

In 2017, the WB puts aside 1.8 billion USD to aid Vietnam in many fields such as poverty reduction, water resources management, agriculture, urban development, issues related to dam safety, effective use of resources.

The bank will also support the NA’s law making, and cooperate with the Government in State-owned enterprise reform, finance, and climate change adaptation, she said, emphasising in investment in education to create a long-life learning opportunity for people.
