Vietnam, Singapore boost security cooperation

Singapore, September 20 (VNA)- Vietnam always attaches high importance to strengthening friendship and cooperation with ASEAN member nations, including Singapore, said Public Security Minister General Tran Dai Quang during his meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on September 19.

Minister Quang is leading a delegation from the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on an official visit to Singapore at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean .

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1973, the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Singapore have developed intensively, especially after they established a strategic partnership during PM Lee’s visit to Vietnam in September last year, Quang told the Singaporean PM.

The Vietnamese minister expressed his hope that PM Lee will continue to create favourable conditions for the Ministry for Home Affairs (MHA) and law enforcement agencies of Singapore to further forge links with the MPS in crime prevention and security enhancement, thus promoting the bilateral strategic partnership for mutual benefit of their people as well for peace and stability in the region and the world as a whole.

PM Lee expressed his delight at close and effective relations between the two countries and the two ministries in particular, affirming that the Vietnamese delegation’s visit contributes to deepening the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and his country.
The same day, the Vietnamese minister visited the Network Security Centre under the Singapore MHA’s Home Team Academy.
