Hanoi, July 29 (VNA) – Thirteen individuals and two organisations were honoured at the 12th Vietnam Glory programme held in Hanoi on July 28 with National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in attendance.

Awardees are those who have made achievements in their field, including academics, scientific research, business, social order, national defence, art and sports.

They included 19-year-old swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien who broke eight records and won eight gold medals at the 28th SEA Games held in Singapore and the IT prodigy Nguyen Duong Kim Hao who has won a number of prizes.

Honoured organisations include the Ministry of Public Security's Anti-hi-tech Crimes Police Department and the High Command of Vietnam Coast Guard.

In a letter sent to the organising board, State President Truong Tan Sang expressed his hope that the programme will continue enhancing the effectiveness of patriotism movements through exemplary models.

According to Dang Ngoc Tung, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the programme has helped encourage the population to become involved in and work towards national development over the last 70 years.
