Vietnam, Germany share education, culture policymaking

Berlin, May 13 (VNA) – A delegation of the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children led by its Deputy Head Le Nhu Tien is on a working visit to Germany to learn about its experience in culture-education policymaking.

The delegation discussed with the German parliament’s Committee on Education and Communications policies to conserve tangible and non-tangible cultural heritages and digitise parliament libraries.

The host noted their readiness to share experience with Vietnam to boost the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership.

In a separate working session, the German Parliament’s Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment and the Vietnamese delegation pledged to broaden cooperation in education and scientific studies, including vocational training.

They shared the view that increased teachings of German at schools in Vietnam and Vietnamese language and culture to Vietnamese students in Germany will benefit bilateral ties in the future.

Talking with the Vietnamese guests, Berlin State Secretary for Education, Youth and Science Sigrid Klebba said the majority of Vietnamese students in Germany are performing well academically.

She also expressed her interest in adding Vietnamese culture and language into Berlin schools as optional subjects, adding that she is working closely with the Vietnamese embassy in this regard.

During the stay, the Vietnamese delegation also held a working session with Potsdam University and visited the Vietnamese embassy in Berlin.
