Vietnam Boosts Comprehensive Cooperation with Cambodia and Laos

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid his official visits to Cambodia (from April 24-25, 2017) and Laos (from April 26-27, 2017).
During their talks, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc discussed with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and his Lao counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith many issues, including long-standing matters related to borders, the Vietnamese community and the promotion of economic and educational cooperation.

 

Vietnam has 190 projects in Cambodia, worth about 2.89 billion US dollars which focus on agriculture. The two-way trade turnover reached 2.9 billion US dollars in 2016 and estimates are about 936 million US dollars for the first quarter of 2017 (an increase of 11.6% in comparison with the last period).

The sides agreed on specific measures to intensify bilateral ties and deal with existing difficulties.  Besides strategic orientations and policies, the leaders reached 13 agreements ranging from transport, trade, education, labour, energy, agriculture and aquaculture to cooperation between their localities.
The two visits of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc created new impetus to further promote relations between Vietnam and the two nations practically and effectively and also contribute to maintaining peace, security, stability and development in the region and in the world.



The two-way trade turnover of Vietnam and Laos reached 823 million US dollars in 2016. In February 2017, Vietnam invested in 408 projects in Laos, worth about 3.7 billion US dollars.
