MoriS: The Story behind an Agriculture Start-up

Tran Thi Huong abandoned her dream job in a foreign country to return to Vietnam and started a business planting Moringa oleifera, a plant that is rich in healthy antioxidants. She then established the Moringa Vietnam Company under the MoriS trademark.
After three years of operation, in addition to online distribution, Huong's products are available in many organic food shops for exported agricultural products. MoriS generates 2.4 billion dong annually (105,000 US dollars) , a remarkable result for a fledgling private company operating in the field of agriculture.

The story began in 2014, when Huong returned to Thanh Oai in Hanoi. There she witnessed the painful work of farmers because of backwards production patterns and their dependence on bulk buyers.

Thirty-year-old Tran Thi Huong is one of the youngest entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.
Moringa oleifera goes by a variety of names, such as drumstick tree, horse radish tree, or ben oil tree.
Almost all parts of the tree can be eaten or used as ingredients in traditional herbal medicines.

Apart from its high nutritional value, Moringa oleifera is easy to grow and maintain.
Planting, maintenance, harvesting and processing of Moringa oleifera is done through a process to ensure
optimal nutritional and pharmaceutical quality.

With the desire to increase the value of Vietnamese agricultural products, she founded Moringa oleifera Company (MoriS), which specialises in the production and trade of products made from this plant.

Huong said, "While the Vietnamese market is threatened by unsafe and genetically modified foods, Moringa oleifera Vietnam offers healthy, natural, additive-free products, bringing optimum value to the consumer," Huong said.

Tran Huong cooperated with Moringa oleifera growers from the North such as Dan Phuong and Soc Son in Hanoi and Khoai Chau in Hung Yen to grow Moringa oleifera with VietGAP quality standards.

Various products of the company are exported to Singapore.
MoriS Moringa oleifera products are the favourite in the domestic and foreign markets.
