Knitting with Wool in La Phu

La Phu Commune in Hoai Duc District, Hanoi is well-known for the traditional craft of knitting with wool which has a long history. The craft is now strongly developing with different categories of products which are much sought after in the domestic market and exported to many countries.
According to Ta Van Thang, Chairman of La Phu People’s Committee, although many crafts have been done in the district, knitting is a strength for the local economic development. At present, there are about 90% households and 20 enterprises engaging in knitting in the commune.

With the recommendation of Chairman Ta Van Thang, we visited the knitting workshop of Minh Phuong Co., Ltd, one of a large number of enterprises in La Phu Commune which was established in 1996. So far the company’s Tabb branded wool products have been the favourite  in the domestic market and  exported to Japan and countries in Eastern Europe.
