Gyeongbokgung – the Most Beautiful Palace in the Republic of Korea

Gyeongbokgung is now one of the most popular attractions for tourists in the Republic of Korea.
The palace was built in 1395 in the heart of the capital of Seoul by by King Taejo who founded the Joseon Dynasty. It is the most beautiful and largest of the Five Grand Palaces in the royal architectural complex of the Joseon Dynasty (the others being Changdeok, Changgyeong, Deoksu, Gyeonghui). The palace has oriental architecture in harmony with nature and was painted with the five basic colours of green, white, red, black and yellow. It manifests the power of the Joseon Dynasty and is the pride of  the Republic of Korea.

The main entrance of the palace is designed with a two-floor roof and three arches.
The middle is the highest for the king and the two sides for mandarins.

Geunjeongjeon is the throne hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace where the king is formally
