Vientiane, November 9 (VNA) – The first Vietnamese language course designed for staff of the Lao Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW) opened in Vientiane on November 9.

The three-month course will train 55 individuals in the basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing Vietnamese.

The activity is to realise an agreement signed between the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the MLSW.

Lao Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Baykhame Khathiya, who was present at the opening ceremony, said the course is to help Lao ministry staff communicate with their Vietnamese counterparts and businesses operating in Laos.

The second course of its kind will begin in April 2016, enrolling 56 registered trainees.
