European parliamentarians’ group for friendship with Vietnam set up

Brussels, November 12 (VNA) – A friendship group of parliamentarians in love with Vietnam in the European Parliament (EP) with 32 members from various parties made debut in Brussels, Belgium, on November 11.

Ambassador Vuong Thua Phong, Head of the Vietnam Delegation to the EU, hailed the significance of the event when Vietnam and the EU are celebrating their 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

He expressed hope that the group will contribute effectively to boosting the Vietnam-EU relations, especially after the signing of the bilateral free trade agreement (EVFTA).

The group’s President Jan Zahradil, who is Vice-Chair of the EP’s International Trade Committee, affirmed that Vietnam and the EU have experienced strong development in bilateral ties over the past 25 years, with cooperation expanded from political dialogue to economic connectivity.

The two sides hold potential to development this mutually-benefiting cooperation, he said, adding that the upcoming official signing of the EVFTA will mark an important milestone in the bilateral relations.
