Ecomia Fashion Show

Nearly 100 designs of Vietnamese and Spanish designers were introduced at the “Ecomia Fashion Show” in Hanoi to celebrate World Environment Day. It introduced fashion lovers to a new trend - eco-fashion.

Vietnam is endowed by nature with many kinds of natural materials which are suitable for producing cloth. Therefore, Vietnamese young designers have recently paid much attention to the eco-fashion trend and made a series of fashion collections from natural fabrics.

During the past ten years, Associate Professor Hoang Thi Linh cooperated with her colleagues at Trung Thu Textile Company and Ecol Fashion Brand to look for natural materials and research the technique of dying cloth by leaves. Then, they created designs from these friendly environment materials.

Fashio designer Cuong Belly’s “Night Dream” collection consists of smart silk designs that honour women’s beauty.

To warn about global warming and call for environment protection, designer Diego Cortizas del Valle
brings to the show his “Go Green” collection which was made from Vietnamese silk with youthful colours and eyes-catching patterns.

Inspired by a novel entitled “Silk”, Designer Huy Nguyen creates his collection,
“Fly”, with the classical European style from Vietnamese silk.

At the show, young designers in Hanoi such as Cuong Belly, Huy Nguyen, Pham Thi Ly and Diego Cortizas del Valle, a Spanish designer, presented four collections, including “Night Dream”, “Fly”, “Vietnamese Figure” and “Go Green”. All the designs were unique in style and made from silk dyed with leaves. They were also decorated with both traditional and modern patterns, highlighting the graceful beauty, femininity and characters of wearers.

The participation of the Spanish designer, a representative from famous Chula Fashion Brand, showed the mixture of the eco fashion trend of Vietnam and other countries.

Designer Diego Cortizas del Valle said: “At present, the eco-fashion trend draws much attention from the public because it is friendly with the environment and is good for users. In the future, this trend will direct the fashion industry of Vietnam and the world to a sustainable, friendly and civilized development.”
