Defence officer meets US House Committee delegation

Hanoi, May 6 (VNA) – Deputy Defence Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh had a meeting with a delegation of the US House of Representatives’ Committee on Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on May 5.

The delegation was led by Chairman of the Committee’s Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific Matt Salmon.

Senior Lieutenant General Vinh highlighted the development of defence cooperation between Vietnam and the US in recent years, especially in settling war consequences.

He affirmed that war consequences are being dealt mostly with resources from the Vietnamese Government and people and expressed his hopes to receive assistance from the international community, especially the US.

He also said he hopes the US Foreign Affairs Committee will continue supporting and contributing to the two countries’ partnership, including in defence.
