Asia News Network to meet in Hanoi

Hanoi, September 18 (VNA) – The Asia News Network (ANN) will hold its annual meeting in Hanoi on September 18-19, with a view to enhancing cooperation between its 22 members.

Editors and coordinators of major English language newspapers will discuss optimising the coverage of Asian affairs for 2014-2015, establishing a photograph archive and running joint marketing activities.

ANN members seek to improve their news-sharing via numerous channels and technology, ANN Executive Director and President of Thailand’s The Nation paper Pana Janviroj said, adding that Vietnam development issues were also of interest.

The guests will pay a courtesy call to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and meet Vietnam News Agency (VNA) leaders.

This year’s meeting is a joint effort between VNA’s Vietnam News paper and the German foundation Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. Networking between Asian newspapers started off as an informal discussion between editors participating in the first Asian-German Editors’ Forum organised by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Manila. ANN was officially established in March 1999.
