ASEAN culture promoted in Quang Binh

Quang Binh, July 15 (VNA) – More than 200 photos and nearly 500 documentaries featuring the cultural essence and traditions of Southeast Asian nations are on display in central Quang Binh province.

The exhibitions also highlight regional efforts to protect the environment and promote climate change adaptation.

Prominent among those present at the opening ceremony on July 14 were Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Truong Minh Tuan, Thai Vice Ambassador to Vietnam Wanthanee Viputwongsakul.

Deputy Minister Tuan said the event helps popularise the diversity of regional cultures, peoples and their livelihoods, thus bringing them closer together to form one common identity.

It also encourages Vietnamese people to participate in regional joint efforts in building an ASEAN community of peace, stability and development while raising their awareness of the formation of the ASEAN community at the end of this year, Tuan added.

At the event, he presented a certificate of merit and the collection of photos and documentaries to local authorities.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang said the photos and documentaries will be introduced to local soldiers and people to give them insight into the beauty and traditions of the regional community.

The event runs until July 17.
